Transport And Trees

While waiting for the bus to take us back to our cruise ship, I found this tree being used to park bicycles behind. The tree is, I think, a fig tree, going by all the air roots coming down. I found the textures that they created quite interesting, and also the lines. More inspiration for my needlework.

The bicycles are something else. obviously transport for the locals. The owners are very trusting as I could not find any chain or lock. Maybe the crime rate in Okinawa is much lower than at home.

The "A" Line

This was view now from the other side of our ship as we sailed into port in Okinawa. This was the cargo side of the harbour, with big cranes ready to lift containers off their transport. I am not sure what this "A" Line boat was, there were no containers on board, and no portholes as such or windows for passengers to look out of. Still, it was part of this busy port of Okinawa .

Asakusa Transport

We had left our cruise in the Asakusa district of Tokyo, and were on a walking discovery tour back to our tour bus. This rickshaw was waiting for any tourist that cared to pay. I must admit it was a very snazzy rickshaw compared to some we had seen.

Transport

Transport in Japan has moved on from the rickshaw, there are cars, buses, trains and planes now. I had forgotten about rickshaws though until I saw this one waiting for a customer. Yes, the rickshaw does still exhist, I saw a few of them in my travels in Japan. Though I think they are mainly for the tourist market to say we have had a ride in one. We walked, caught buses, taxi's, trains & ferries, but sadly no ride in a rickshaw. I must add here that all the rickshaw "pullers" were very trim! I wonder why?
