Interesting

This has come up in the middle of the front lawn. Obviously a weed of some kind, but I don't know what it is. We used to call it "Shivery Grass" when we were kids, but I am sure that is not the correct name. It's still interesting.

Weeds

I must admit that when I see a dandelion like this, I really, really, really want to blow on it. Though of course I don't, I very carefully pluck them off & throw them in the green waste bin. It is amazing how fast they go from flowers to this, maximum 24 hours I think. Then all they need is a gentle knock or a gentle puff, & the seeds go off to do their thing. No winder they are weeds.

Pretty Fern or Noxious Weed

Well, once again I have learnt something new. On close inspection to my asparagus fern, I found it had these little flowers. I didn't even know these ferns flowered. I know ferns to have spores for reproduction, not flowers. So I have been doing some research & some reading, and found this page on asparagus ferns and this one on ferns in general. Ok, so because this fern has flowers, does this mean it is not a fern at all? I have learnt one thing today, I am growing a noxious weed ( well two actually) in a pot! Hey, it is interesting, and survives the heat.

Love Me, Love Me Not

I remember when we were kids & we used to find these seed heads & blow them singing "Love me, love me not, love me love me not". We would keep blowing & singing until the seed head was empty & all the seeds were floating along the wind. Now when I find them in my garden, I carefully pick them & throw them in the bin, just so the seeds do not start another round of weeds. I must admit though, it was very tempting to start singing & blowing again. This one was just perfect. One day I am going to produce one of these in stitches.
