Yellow Daisy

Bushes of these yellow daisies seem to love my garden. A mass of flowers in spring, the bees love them, pollinate them, then they drop their little black seeds to start another bush. I am forever pulling then out.

Singing In The Rain

It is raining in Sydney today, buckets of it, and just what all the new transplanted babies in my garden need. 28mm of the wet stuff yesterday, and it is still comming down.

I have transplanted double jonquils, african daisies, two dahlias, and split apart this daisy into quite a few different plants. I also want to split up my shasta daisies as well. A job for another day. The pic above are of jonquils comming up in another bed. I have them scattered all over the garden, and have just recently given away a bucket full of bulbs. So watch this space to see them bloom in the comming weeks.

A Little Ray of Sunshine

More storms late yesterday, & a cool change overnight has brought a dull day today. So today I give you a daisy to brighten your day. These guys drop seed everywhere & grow like weeds.

Home Garden Catch-Up

My own garden at home has become so overgown with weeds, this morning I took advantage of the cooler weather & tackled the bed underneath my frangipanni. Over an hour to clear all the weeds and half an otto bin later, I'm sure you can imagine how overgown it was. This is a pic of my first frangipanni for the summer, just opening this morning. No perfume yet, but in a few days there will be more flowers & I look forward to the perfume floating through my dining room window.

One of the first things I noticed when I came home was that my shasta dasies were all out. This is just one of the little pockets that I have left after the drought, and when they finish flowering, I hope to get some more cuttings to spread them around the garden again. I look forward to seeing the butterflies that they will attract.

More Daisies

Some pics of another daisy in my garden this morning. This one came from a packet of seeds labelled "cottage garden" that I threw over the garden some years ago. I think it is a "Cut Leaf Daisy", as it always has flowers. These flowers start off pink, then go white as they open out. They are only tiny flowers, and sometimes I pick some of them to add as fillers to a small vase of cut flowers for inside. It is also another hardy plant as it has survived the drought of the last few years.

Shasta Daisies

Signs of summer are arriving in my garden, even though summer is still officially about six weeks away. This is one of the buds that has appeared on one my shasta daisies. These dasies originally came from my Mum's garden, and have multiplied over the years. They were all across the front garden at one point, but with the drought and water restrictions , I have lost quite a lot of them. Over the last year we have had a little more rain than the previous few years, and the dasies are starting to spread again. I have about 4 little pockets of them scattered throughout the garden, and may be able to transplant some cuttings to make them spread faster, once they finish flowering. I look forward to seeing the butterflies they attract when they are in flower.
